John is a businessman with interests in education and sport. His business interests include Stage Electrics Partnership Ltd, Alliance Tool Hire Ltd and the Clifton Marquee Company Ltd. He formerly was a governor of Merchants Academy, Venturers Academy and a trustee of the Venturers Trust. His charitable activities include South Bristol Sports Centre and the Wallscourt Foundation. He is a former chairman of Bristol City Football Club and vice chair of Bristol Bears (Bristol Rugby Club) and of Brandon Hire PLC. Additionally, he was the first sponsor of City Academy Bristol, and was chair of governors in the organisation. He is a deputy-lieutenant of Somerset and received a doctorate from the University of the West of England (UWE) for his services to education.
Trevor is the founder and former executive chairman of Badgerline and FirstGroup PLC, and has a range of commercial and professional interests. He is currently president of the Quartet Community Foundation and past president of the St Monica Trust, as well as chairman of the Venturers Trust, UKRD and the SLX Group.
Paul is an experienced leader with a strong track record in improving schools rapidly. He was for more than 20 years a senior leader in inner city Bristol and a head teacher in South Gloucestershire. He is currently a head teacher in Wiltshire, also a facilitator on the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) course which trains prospective head teachers. He is a leader with drive and integrity who mixes both traditional and pioneering strategies, all focussed on supporting students to meet their potential. He is passionate about community sports and is a trained secondary school physical education teacher. He spent five years as a previous director of sport and supported the capital build of both the Whitehall Athletics Track and Imperial Sports Centre. He now takes pleasure in his continued support of the Imperial Sports Ground and to be part of its exciting future.
